Author(s): Royal Shakespeare Company
A medieval allegory dating from around 1500, in which Everyman, already a sinner, is instructed by God through his messenger, Death, to prepare for a pilgrimage with his Book of Reckoning at his side. Everyman tries but fails to find someone to accompany him and finally realises that it is a journey he must make alone.
